I’ve been hearing about the game dying because UB are ‘killing magic’, but as a cEDH player, I’ve either loved or been pleasantly surprised by the growth of our section of the format because of these powerful cards being printed (Vivi, Norman, etc). Do you think that UB are as bad for the game as the internet seems to believe?
With yet another scandal involving a well-known member of the community and content creator - this time for cheating (again) - I want to ask for your unbiased view on this matter.
My concern is that this player has shown several cases of toxic behaviour, bullying and cheating in the past, but has constantly been allowed back into the format. I believe that this is due to his status as a skilled player, his role as a content creator and his friendship with other prominent players/content creators who are giving him a free pass to the detriment of the format. He was even allowed back into a side event after being DQ’d for cheating, which is extremely questionable.
I have friends who look at our format with disdain for many reasons, but the fact that we are so soft on cheating and poor sportsmanship is a thing they raise when discussing cEDH. This incident and player are terrible for the format and for the integrity of competition, and paint us in a dim light to outsiders.
Everyone loves to talk about growing as a format and as a community, but if we continue to allow people free passes for multiple egregious offences, the format will decline.
I’d love to know how you feel this affects our format going forward in terms of the integrity of competition, whether or not this player should be allowed to participate in the community after so many offences and what you feel the responsibility of prominent members of our community should be when it comes to discussing cheaters in good faith and not burying the topic.
What are your thoughts on the Draw = P4 win tourney? The seat-sim seems most relevant in a turbo meta, and as games go faster, does it make sense to give the most disenfranchised player another axis to play on?
Does this idea feed the Stax/Control truthers some hope? Or is it fake?
@here Moved these to a new thread for next week as we didn’t have time to get to these questions.
There has been talk in prior vids and by other folks in the space of how WOTC won’t print new free counters / etc due to how powerful that would be by today’s standards. I think that Louisoix’s Sacrifice and the new web slinging Spidey one are their attempts at giving options to other formats for low cost interaction that doesn’t warp standard, however, I’m curious to hear what you all think would be an acceptable card design that might fit into today’s landscape. Is it possible to print a free counter in 2025, and if so, what downside would that have?
What are your thoughts on keeping ahead of the meta? What are some ways we can anticipate how the meta will change and adapting while it’s still relevant, as opposed to adapting too late and always being a step behind.
Grindy games can often result in 3-4 triggers getting trapped on the stack for each spell cast which makes resolving a full stack without missing any triggers very difficult, especially if players are talking over each other or trying to move quickly to resolve partial stacks. This can result in situations where missed triggers like a forced draw from an Esper Sentinel could have a major result in the outcome of a game.
The Krark community is very vocal to new players about tracking the stack for the table because they’re often the ones putting the most triggers on it. Should all players be taking a little more time to represent stacks physically (e.g. with dry erase tokens) to avoid potential rules violations?
