Given the current meta (be it in your locals or in a big tourney) how would you go about trying to build a “antimeta/responsible” deck now a days ?
or is it still “put a win on the stack” track mindset better suited in this day and age?

With lesson cards coming back in the Avatar set (and probably Strixhaven too), plus some TMNT cards that effect the sideboard, there’s been some speculation about whether Wizards might update the rules to actually let EDH use sideboards.
How do you think sideboards would effect cEDH? I doubt we’d be sideboarding between games or anything, but I’m curious if wish/lesson cards would actually matter or if it’d just be a cool idea that doesn’t really change much.
What do you think the best way to learn your “role” in a game is? How do you think your role in a game changes based on seat order vs pod composition?
With the upcoming November ban announcement, do you think cEDH will get caught in the crossfire? Or will WOTC continue balancing around standard and leave cEDH alone? Anything that could be adjusted to make the meta more interesting?
For additional food for thought, who do you think would reign supreme in a “No partner commanders” tournament?
Post cabbage man, do you think dorks are going to be even necessary in high color turbo decks ? They feel bad whenever you draw them in the middle of a counter war, are OBM magnets, and summoning sick for a turn. Feels like treasures ,rituals, or even carpet and wild growth are better right now
You mentioned in another post on naus that you’re going to be taking a look at Glarb and adjusting it for the modern meta. Could you share some insights on how you go about this process either on the pod or in a separate video? I think that the perspective and nuance around these meta calls is very unique to each individual pilot and something that hasn’t been touched on very much. Could be a good way to get folks thinking more CRITICALly if you catch my drift
Is it a hot take to say that lying in cEDH should maybe be normalized? Magic is a game described as poker and chess but people get mad when people lie. If people want to be an open book and be known at the person who never lies then i think maybe they should play with their hand revealed at all times.
I feel like normalizing lying in a game is maybe not the same as instead adapting the competitive mindset from poker to MTG. I think it’s more nuanced than just saying “it’s okay to lie because bluffing is acceptable” and that there are probs quite a few major differences between the two games.
It just seems like a slippery slope.
I’m genuinely curious, a slippery slope to what?
I think it’s a slippery slope towards destroying the social contract that comes with 4 player, as well as the socialization aspect / politicking. I could do without politicking, personally, however I think it has its uses.
If we say “okay, sometimes people lie and that’s just how it goes” no one will have any reason to trust anyone, since any deal is subject to being broken for any reason at all. I think normalizing lying encourages folks to be more cutthroat not just at tourneys, but also in their typical weeklys and local fnm. You now have a world where everyone is potentially a liar and spite plays become more attractive.
At the end of it all, we’re playing a game. Not just that, but we’re shuffling up to play the most social format we have (besides cube ig) for this game, so I believe that normalizing lying only serves to make toxic players more toxic and quality games to disappear
Then it should be in the rules, right? My problem is people trying to moral grandstand when there is nothing in the rules about going back on deals etc. Sure it feels bad but this IS the part of the social game. Yes sometimes you shouldn’t trust people. When everyone’s goal is to win and someone tries to make a deal with you, they are always trying to get a slightly better part of that deal. Is that scummy too? Do things need to be 100% fair then? If someone has a reputation that they go back on deals then that is also part of the social game.
To reiterate, my main problem is people thinking they are better than others because they “are always truthful” and others lie. Its icky and not cool imo
@here moved these to a new topic for next week
How do you get forced draws accepted when you explain every way we lose and people still think they will win?
I think this is a great conversation and food for thought. I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I agree, the holier than thou stuff is lame and I think you make a good point about how all of these things are part of the social contract. I think you’re pretty dead on, however, I still think that we should avoid normalizing lying to the table just so we can get ahead lol. I think it brings game quality down significantly if we have zero trust between all four players.
What are some mechanics that you find might be under explored in our format? Example, I’ve been thinking a lot on the power of exiling pieces through a few different effects. Could Sire of Stagnation be gas in lists that cheat it out for cheap? Is Rest in Peace a strong enough piece in bant minus lists that don’t reuse their graveyard? I think the exile zone could be a strong way to power up control lists
What do you find to be the best ways to prepare for a tournament? In addition how do you decide what meta calls for a tournament and how does that impact both your play testing and your final list you submit?

We know The Cabbage Merchant and Wan Shi Tong, Librarian are potential shoe-ins for cEDH. Do you think there is anything cEDH viable with new bending mechanics coming out with the Avatar set? Any other Avatar cards you are eyeing for new commanders or cards in the 99?
