Watching the Frenzy of the Falls Finals and saw the Izzet player cast a great Trickbind on the opponent Thrasios to prevent activations. Are there any other âsplit secondâ cards that should or could have a strong place in cEDH? scryfall âsplit+secondâ cards
Are there any specific card arts that you wish were printed onto âbetterâ cards so that they could be played in cEDH? Here are a few card arts I like,
Sometimes I feel like I have better results playing fringe decks than I do when playing a meta deck like blue farm. Is this just a sign that I need to work on my politics more? Is it brewers advantage? Or is there something else going on here (im a fraudulent farm player). Cheers.
I want to hear your thoughts on a card I have disliked for many years in cEDH: Ragavan. Generally, I find that there are a surprising amount of blockers or it doesnât do what I actually need it to even if it does connect (between hitting lands or cards from decks that are not helpful when theyâre the only open person). I find Iâd rather just commit another slot to my own gameplan- sure the ceiling is high on the card (one of the local games I won hitting a mnemonic betrayal on Celes) but the floor I keep seeing is pretty low.
How do you evaluate new cards as they are printed? Right before Royal Rumble we have a set release do you plan to put cards from the set in to your deck and if so how do you test those cards?
I am stuck on fringe specialist decks and ideas. The downside is obvious, however I align with the take on brewing magic being one of the best parts. My stubbornness is supported as I see month over month improvement and a list that has turned into something hard to put down in the league. How do you release yourself from the first list that held your hand into cEDH? Do you continue to play what drives creativity and joy and brew another list (Mimeoplasm, Revered One
), or do you hard shift to where you should be as a player and âPlay BlueFarmâ?
In a few recent games, someone is clearly going for the win, but since I have a value engine online, I become the perceived â next biggest threat.â Then the other two players lose interest in helping interact and basically let the win attempt happen. How do you keep those players engaged in stopping the attempt without having to make big concessions like âI wonât win for a full turn cycleâ? Is there a good way to have the table fighting for a draw, and then convert to a win without being an a-hole?
In the current meta and the advancement of card quality and interaction, do you think if Flash was unbanned that Flash/Hulk would be as dominant as it was that lead to its banning?
Watching/playing in a lot of games in the league this month where there is substantial pressure to push for a draw or âagreeing to play for a draw.â Sometimes, this is the only out that players with low agency can push for, but it oftentimes creates an atmosphere of hostility (perhaps more so on Spelltable where itâs easier for communication to breakdown).
Recognizing that sometimes a draw is the best outcome for an individual with incentives to both win, but in the worst case, not lose, how would seasoned tournament goers such as the Crit Team advise players to navigate the often negative emotions that arise as some players actively play to draw or play to not lose (including oneâs own emotions).
This isnât an issue with draws outright per se, but itâs an issue with player behavior that is incredibly visible, particularly in Spelltable games that doesnât foster the best atmosphere for players.
Obviously, no one wants to lose, but what etiquette do you all observe from the most-seasoned players that less-seasoned players could emulate to create positive game experiences even if game outcomes arenât necessarily moving in a favorable direction?
(Also, this question can be contextualized in whatever way is most generalizable in the sense that the Japanese point system punishes losing outright which creates different dynamics than drawing and losing in a traditional tournament would create.)
My friend is playing lower power bracket 4* So Iâm having trouble explaining how chrome Mox Mox diamond and gemstone are super good even with the resource loss. Iâd love some advice on this as I think theyâd be a great cedh player they just need the push to get there.
Lower power bracket 4= there is no real fast mana 0 drop rocks and NO breach. but they play things like smothering tithe rhystic thoracle dark rit d tutor gamble vamp tutor etc.
