When sitting down at at table how do you evaluate your opponents skill level and how does that effect the actions you take in a game?

What is the line for a deck being too fringe to take to a tournament? When should you bring a fringe deck to a tournament, and what would you consider a good result with it?

We talk about the difference between swiss and top cut games all the time - but how do you actually quantify that difference and proceed to navigate those games differently?

Other than just play more top cut games, how do you practice for it? It feels like once there’s no option for a draw decisions get harder the margins are narrower. It also feels like players mulligan differently, but that might just be my perspective.

:joy: it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who’s run into the top cut grinder and felt like I’ve hit a ceiling. Obviously I’m can improve to keep making top cut more consistently, but I know what swiss feels like and there’s so many more of those games to navigate and learn from. I look back at my top cuts and I’m like :man_shrugging: guess I need to make better decisions for when draws aren’t allowed?

one of the coolest things I’ve experienced in the league is being able to see the developers of amazing tools like the new topdeck queue bot and Eldrazi.gg get improved LIVE with community feedback

What are some tools you wish that we had access to that we don’t have yet - maybe some of those awesome devs can make it happen?

As a partner to a cEDH tournament grinder and mother of a future cEDH prodigy, I was disappointed that neither Breach the Bay nor Royal Rumble had any live streamed games or tournament coverage. With multiple big cEDH events happening recently without live coverage, I’m curious how you all view streaming’s role going forward. Is live coverage essential for growing and legitimizing the format, or are the downsides (cost and complexity, mainly) still too high? If a tournament does choose to stream, what do you think is the minimum bar for doing it well? On the other hand, what is the dream setup?

Last weekend i attended Breach the Bay and was lied to at the tournament. My question is why shouldn’t I out the liar all over the internet so people know who they are? I feel like this is totally justifiable but most people frown upon this.

For context and entertainment here is the story

Round 4
Me seat 1, seat 2 magda, seat 3 vivi, seat 4 yshtola.
At this point we all knew we couldn’t make top 16 but we were just playing anyways
Magda was threatening the whole game I stopped them a bit but they kept pushing.
This is where the lying situation happened.
They attacked me with Magda and I showed my opponents that I could flash in Endurance to block if they would commit to not winning on there turns. They both agreed so I tried to block but magda stopped it. Then at vivi’s end step yshtola says “i have to try something” and casts tainted pact, i remind him of his commitment to not win yet and he agrees that he said that, then I ask are you reverse thoracleing me? And he said no, i ask if he had thoracle in hand and he said no, i ask what he is looking for and he says interaction. Also he had mulled to 4 so hadn’t done too much this game. We let him tainted pact and he pretends to be looking and considering different options, but in the end just flips the deck besides the last card. Then casts thoracle and wins even though none of us can top 16 at this point. He then tried to gaslight and say he never said he wasn’t gonna win, but i told him its ok to be a liar just admit it and say that you are a little liar. Then I said congrats you won and asked the other players of they wanted to finish the game basically as a fuck you to the guy. That was my first time anyone has bold face lied to me in a tournament. I could have stopped him 3 ways if i didn’t use my mana to cast endurance earlier in the turn cycle.

Also his shirt said “truth” on it which is the funniest part.

I wasn’t mad me and the other players just were laughing since the situation was ridiculous, no matter the outcome none of us could top 16 so why sacrifice your honor for no benefit? Anyways let me know what you think

As a Tournament Organizer looking to do something new, what are your dreams for tournaments moving forward? Any new rules or unique changes that would excite you? (I.e. Can only use a Frog commander. Crypt is unbanned for this tournament. No-banlist tourney? Etc)

What makes a tournament stand out to you? Location? Ease of travel? Size? Facility and layout of gaming space? Food on site or part of entry cost?

What would be some prizes or partnerships you’d like to see? (Sponsored by bigger companies, like Toyota doing car giveaways? Walmart or others just pooling more money to make it more attractive?)

Hve you ever had a “players pack” for attending a tournament? If yes, what did you get? If not, what would you like to see in one? (Custom tokens from artists? A playmat? Custom deck box or sleeves? Unique numbered tokens exclusive to the events?)

How do you feel about a dress code being implemented for a tournament? (Collard shirts, closed toed shoes, etc)

Changing the date as we weren’t able to cover these questions last week. Keep them coming!

how to convert from top cut to finals no borax no glue

Looking into the meta right now, would yall say it is diverse enough at the moment that we will see even more land combo decks winning in Swiss + Top cut?

How do experienced players look to improve? Not necessarily what areas of improvement to work on, but more what is the method to improving(each of those areas maybe)?

How quickly should you move on from a Strategy if it not working for you? example Turbo, midrange, stax etc

What cards do you want to see banned?
***Get OBM outtaaaa here***

What cards do you want to see unbanned?
***FREE MY GIRL JLO SHE DID NOTHING WRONG***

What cards would you be upset if then DO ban? also DON’T ban?
***IF THEY BAN RHYSTIC OR THORACLE SO HELP ME GOD***

Should cEDH be considered a different format from normal commander?

The casual players tend to ruin it for competitive formats.
A video games example: people who think blitz is broken cause of the hook, in bronze yeah strong, higher elos not so much.

Might have my own biases for JLO and OBM, I am a Sisay player so take it with a grain of salt i suppose.
